Manik woke up after sleeping peacefully in the arms of his wife with a blissful smile on his face. He raised his head from her chest and as he saw her angelic face, his smile grew bigger. She’s sleeping hugging him like a mother. He hugged her tighter, burying his face in her chest. Her chest has become his favourite pillow from now and her arms have become his home.
He wondered, “we’re sleeping like this in the hospital but who cares she’s my wife, so no shame.” He kissed her chest over the fabric and dug his face deeper into her chest. She smiled in sleep and hugged him tighter.
After some time, Nandini is still sleeping, it seems like she hasn’t slept for so many days. He’s gazing at her lovingly.
“I’m sorry, Nandini, that I didn’t let you sleep peacefully in these two months.” He apologised, caressing her soft cheek with his thumb, looking at her with so much love in his eyes.
“But I promise you that from now I won’t let you sleep sad for even a single day.” He promised her by placing a soft kiss on the forehead and she smiled contentedly in response. She has just aroused from sleep.
She opened her eyes and answered him in her sugary voice. “Ab mujhe pura yakeen hai aapar, Manik ji. (Now I have utter faith in you, Manik.)”
He smiled warmly at her. “Thank you so much for giving me a second chance and trusting me again.” He thanked her from the core of his heart and gently and softly kissed her lips.
“Lekin Manik Ji ab agar yeh vishwas tuta toh kabhi jodh nhi paega. (But if now this trust breaks down, then I won’t able to trust you again.)” She said in a serious tone.
“I swear I will never let that happen.” He kissed her cheek and she smiled merrily. She’s feeling like she’s seeing a beautiful dream as Monster behaving so lovingly and sweetly, it’s like a dream. She is on cloud nine.
She hugged him, smiling contentedly. “Hum bhut kush hai. (I’m so happy.)” She squealed.
He smiled broadly. “I promise I’ll keep you happy always.” He said, hugging her back.
“Nandini, I have to ask you something.” He uttered, stroking her hair as they broke the hug.
“Haan, pucho na. (Okay, ask.)” She said, smiling cheerily as she is feeling incredible the way he’s running his fingers through her hair. She’s finally getting the love that a pure soul like her deserves.
“Who told you that I love somebody else.” He asked, still caressing her hair. Her brows creased and her smile faded as she recalled a past incidence.
Nandini is pinning up the plates of her saree when Mukti stepped into the room.
“So finally you’re going?” Mukti asked her but Nandini didn’t reply to her. She ignored her as always and applied the vermillion on the parting of her hair.
“I’m asking you something.” Mukti yelled in anger, flinging the sindoor case onto the floor.
“Mukti Ji, yeh humhra pati ka ghar hai aur hum apne pati ko chodh kar khi nhi jaenge. (Mukti, this is my husband’s house and I will never leave this house.” Mukti frowned after listening to her answer.
“He loves someone else, Nandini, why aren’t you leaving bhai?” Nandini widened her eyes and took few steps backwards in shock.
“Look, how he is standing, hugging this girl. See how close they are to each other. Bhai loves her.” Mukti showed her the photo of Manik with a woman and a lone tear trickled down her cheek as she saw the photo. Mukti’s lips stretched up to an evil smile as her plan is succeeding, Nandini is believing in her lie.
“Manik Ji kisi aur se pyaar karte hai aur hum unke beech mein aa rhai, hum chale jaenge. (Manik loves somebody else and I’m coming between them. Now I will go out of his life.” She murmured dejectedly and finally decided to leave him. Mukti smiled with triumph after listening to her words.
“Hum Manik ji ko sach nhi bata sakte, unhai bura lagega ki Mukti ji ne unke bare mein juth bola. (I can’t tell this to Manik. He will become upset if he comes to know Mukti lied to me about him.)” She like always only thinking about him as she loves him truly and unconditionally. She can’t see him upset.
“Nandini, what happened, don’t you want to tell me?” He asked her in a soft voice after clasping her face and she came on the earth back.
“Manik ji, voh humhne apki photo kisi aur ladhki ke sath dekh li thi, toh humhai laga ki hum apke pyaar ke beech mein aa rhai hai isliye humhne apka ghar chodh diya. (Manik, I saw your photo with another woman, so I thought I’m coming between your love, therefore I left your house.)” She smartly told him the half-truth. He looked at her with so much love in his eyes.
“Nandini, why are you so nice? I hurt you so much but still, you were thinking about me. You’re seriously unbelievable and I’m blessed to have you. You’re a sweetheart. I love you so much.” He cupped her face and kissed her forehead.
She smiled and answered him, placing her hand on his face. “Manik Ji, hum apse sacha pyaar krte hai aur hum apko humsha kush dekhna chate hai. (Manik ji, I love you truly and I always want to see you happy.)”
“I love you too, sweetheart.” He pecked her lips and beamed at him.
“Aapko pata hai jab aap humhai hurt karte thai, humhai bilkul acha nhi lagta tha aur hum kudhse gussa hojate thai ki hum apko hate kyu nhi karpate. (You know when you hurt me, I really didn’t like it and I used to get angry with myself that why I still can’t hate you.)” She told him in flow but made him upset again, his eyes filled with remorse and shame.
He moved his eyes down in guilt, recalling how he used to treat her. He’s ashamed for treating his innocent wife so brutally.
Nandini pouted sadly realising her words made him upset. She clasped his face and pulled up his face to make him look at her.
“Manik ji, hum bash apko yeh bata rhai hai ki hum apse kabhi nafrat kar hi nhi sakte kyuki hum apse bhut pyaar karte hai. (Manik, I’m just telling you that I can never hate you as I love you a lot.” She confessed, gazing into his eyes intensely.
“I’m the luckiest person on this earth because I have you.” He clasped her hand and kissed her knuckles. She smiled at him and ruffled his hair before kissing his hair.
