Nandini’s POV:

The rest of the week went pretty in a daze. I didn’t see Manik after that day and I was kind of disappointed.

Reason? I don’t know!

It was Saturday and outside the weather was so nice that I decided to go out and spend some alone time, walking on the streets of New York. I love spending my time alone, I love to feel the touch of beautiful soothing air caressing my face.

I jumped out of my bed and made my way to the bathroom for a hot relaxing shower. I took my own time there and enjoyed each and every drop of water cascading down my body. I loved to feel these little things.

I got dressed in a white crop top and blue denim shorts. I let my hair flow down my waist and applied my favourite strawberry lip gloss. Alter sliding my bag across my shoulder, I made my way down the stairs.

“I’m going to spend some me-time, Annny, the weather is so nice.” I shouted as I wore my white sneakers, knowing she won’t wake up anytime soon.

“You better come back soon. We need to go to the mall.” She replied lazily from her room.

“Of course, how can I forget.” I grinned and headed out.

I walked down the streets near our house enjoying the beautiful weather, admiring the beauty of the city.

New York is so different from India. The streets are busy and crowded with people. Children were roaming with their parents. I couldn’t help but smile looking at their adorable faces which they were making while talking to their parents.

They look so cute!

Unknowingly, tears rolled down my cheeks when flashes of past came in front of my eyes with my parents.

No! I can’t cry! I won’t let my past affect me.

I took a deep breath and plastered a smile on my face to seem confident and started exploring other shops.

“Aren’t you sight for sore eyes?” I stopped dead on my tracks recognizing the familiar voice. I turned around slowly and saw those gorgeous brown eyes, twinkling in the sunlight. His eyes roamed all over my body and I started to feel conscious and exposed all of a sudden.

Why didn’t I wear my jeans?

“What are you doing here?” I finally spoke after what felt like forever.

“It’s a free country, baby girl. I was just heading out to get a cup of coffee. Would you mind joining me?” He smirked making me go all weak on my knees.

Fuck me already!

“Baby girl” Damn it sounds so sexy, and listening to this after a week.

But wait! He just asked me out, isn’t he?

Why?

“You don’t even know me and you want to hang out with me?” I blurted out in curiosity.

Why would he want to go out with a girl like me?

“Of course, let’s get to know each other better.” He whispered looking intensely and I could see he genuinely wanted me to accompany him.

I was biting the lips unconsciously wondering if it was a good idea to go with him.

His eyes moved to my lips and as I blushed hard, a smirk flashed on his face.

Is he noticed my blush? Oh god!

“Say something, baby girl.” He whispered and I nodded my head in approval.

Well, what harm can coffee do right?

I decided to go with him and I was hoping that I made the right choice.

We reached a quaint old coffee shop and he opened the door for me.

Quiet a gentleman!

As soon as I stepped inside, I was hit with the strong aroma of coffee. I fell in love with the place immediately. It was so small yet so beautiful place with cosy chairs and tables which looked like it was carved out of wood and it had a nice view of the streets. One could easily enjoy a cup of coffee, watching the world go by. I was busy checking out the place that I didn’t notice him looking at me amusingly.

“I take it that you love coffee and cosy places, isn’t it?” He asked and I nodded shyly.

Was that so obvious to guess?

We moved toward a table and he pulled out a chair for me before taking his seat.

Aww…my poor heart.

“So you’re an Indian, right?” He initiated the conversation. I just nodded slightly, remembering about my life in India. I didn’t want to think about it and talk about it.

“Great! I’m also from India. I was just 3 months old when dad shifted here for business after that I never got a chance to visit India.” He said and ordered a caramel latte with extra sugar. I ordered a black coffee.

“Anyway, Where are you from India?” He asked me.

“Could we please talk about something else?” I requested.

He mused, “okay.”

“So, how is NY treating you?”

I glanced at him and responded, “it’s great.” I was looking everywhere except him because his handsome face drove me crazy. Then a girl came with our coffee. She placed our mugs in front of us.

“Here we go!” He said passing the mug towards me with his hand.

His little gestures were really sweet!

“Thank you.” I took the mug, smiling at him.

“You’re welcome, baby girl,” He said, passing me the sexy smirk and continued, “you look more pretty with a smile on your face.” As he complimented me, I blush, moving my eyelashes down.

I was having a good time and the conversation went pretty smoothly. He was graduating this year and his major was business and I told him about how it was my first day when he bumped into me.

“I must have left one hell of an impression on you.”He chuckled and my cheeks burned in embarrassment.

Damn, right. You did.

For some reason, I felt calm and comfortable talking to him but I was feeling hot and bothered physically. I know it was just me because he seemed unaffected.

“I got this,” He winked.

Is he trying to make me blush on purpose? I swear if he keeps doing things like that, I’m gonna embarrass myself.

“Give me your phone,” He asked as we stepped out of the cafe. Before I could process what he said, he took my phone from my hand and started typing his number. He gave a miscall to his phone so that he got my number as well.

“It was quite interesting running into you, baby girl. I had a great time.” He beamed ear to ear, his eyes not leaving mine.

“I had a nice time too,” I replied shyly and broke his gaze looking at my feet.

“Call me, when you reached home, baby girl.” He intensely gazed at me and walked away. I finally let out a breath that I didn’t know I was holding.

Why should I call him? Just because we had coffee, it doesn’t mean I should call him. This is New York. People have coffee and never see each other again right. I tried to give reasons to myself pathetically. He probably gives the number to random girls and I’m just one of them. I tried to convince myself but I couldn’t ignore a small part of me that was feeling giddy with excitement like a schoolgirl.

Oh god, I was screwed for sure.

How much do you like the Part.
